Effective for services received on or after March 31, 2015, EmblemHealth has set up new protections to ensure that members of EmblemHealth insured plans* don't pay more than their in-network cost-sharing for out-of-network emergency services or for "surprise bills" related to non-emergency health care services rendered on or after April 1, 2015.

These protections may apply:

  • If you receive out-of-network emergency services in a hospital
  • If you receive a non-emergency “surprise bill” for out-of-network services

Learn more about these new protections, which are effective with dates of service on or after March 31, 2015.

Did You Know That You Have To Renew Your Medicaid Coverage?

Don’t lose your coverage. Call us now! 1-888-432-8026 on weekdays from 8:30 am to 5 pm (excluding major holidays) or visit our website at emblemhealth.com.

What is Medicaid renewal?

Renewal or recertification is required by New York State. It is how Medicaid members renew their health care coverage.

When do I have to renew?
You need to renew every year. Depending on how you enrolled, the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA), your Local Department of Social Services (LDSS) or the NY State of Health (NYSOH) Marketplace will send you a letter or an email with your renewal date.

Events such as marriage, divorce, birth of a child, change of income or loss of employment may also change your renewal date.

Look at the date on your letter or email. You must renew by the date provided. Typically, you can only renew:

  • HRA and LDSS - 30 to 60 days from the date you receive your letter
  • NYSOH Marketplace - 30 days from the date you receive your letter

If you don’t understand your letter, we can help. Call EmblemHealth at 1-888-432-8026.

What if I did not receive my renewal notice?
If you did not receive your renewal notice, call the following numbers for assistance:
