Dental Hygiene Is Important

Multiple studies have demonstrated a correlation between poor oral health and poor health outcomes. Because most people visit their medical doctor for routine care more often than their dentist, you can help to reinforce the value of regular dental hygiene, oral care and dental visits. For young children and adolescents, an oral risk assessment should be included in a well-child exam. For Medicaid members less than seven years old, we cover the application of fluoride varnish by medical doctors in their offices as a billable service utilizing code D1206.

Adults, especially pregnant women, should also be encouraged to see their dentist for routine oral care.
