Well-Child Visits

During the summer months, many pediatric offices are busy with calls from parents requesting back-to-school exams. Please take advantage of these visits to make sure all immunizations and age-appropriate tests and screenings are complete. We encourage you to:

  • Provide assurance and support to parents hesitant to fully vaccinate their children, to help them reach an informed decision.
  • Include the BMI score when recording height and weight, and plot corresponding percentiles as appropriate.
  • Encourage parents to schedule a visit with their child’s dental provider if their child hasn't seen a dentist in the past year.

Since children are more available during the summer, now is also a good time to identify and reach out to members on your panel who haven't been to the office recently, invite them for a visit and bring them up to date on needed preventive services.
