Annual CAHPS Surveys
Why They Matter
Each year, randomly selected members are asked to rate satisfaction with their doctors and their plan by completing the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) survey. The survey measures how well member expectations are being met with regard to access to primary and specialist services and care, provider and plan customer service, coordination of care, receipt of flu shots, advice regarding smoking cessation and more. CAHPS results are used by CMS, NYSDOH, employer groups, accreditation agencies, and EmblemHealth to determine member satisfaction.
