
Maalox is a well-known product for treating gas and upset stomach. Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned that taking the wrong Maalox can result in serious side effects. The FDA advised that people should not take Maalox® Total Relief when a milder Maalox liquid antacid should be used. Maalox Total Relief and traditional Maalox products are all over-the-counter liquid medicines but they are not the same, and should not be used in place of each other. These products are meant to treat different health problems.
