NEW YORK, NY (November 16, 2009) — HIP Medicaid was ranked eighth in the nation placing it in the top 10% of 82 Medicaid health insurance plans according to the current issue of U.S. News & World Report/NCQA “America’s Best Health Insurance Plans* 2009-10.”
“We are delighted to have done so well in this prestigious ranking, which reflects EmblemHealth’s ongoing commitment and success in enhancing our programs and services to meet the needs of our members and help them live healthier lives,” said William A. Gillespie, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of EmblemHealth. “We have seen an improvement in our rankings over the past three years for our HIP Medicaid, HIP Commercial HMO/POS and GHI HMO plans and we strive to continuously improve access to the highest possible quality of care for our members.”
The rankings are based on several quality of clinical care and patient satisfaction scores such as the consumers’ experience with their plan physicians; the frequency of preventive care efforts and how well plans address chronic conditions.
