EmblemHealth Supports the Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation
4/7/2013 - Manhattan
EmblemHealth is committed to improving the health of all New Yorkers which is why we support the Colon Cancer Foundation. This year, the Colon Cancer Challenge attracted over 5,000 runners and walkers who ran and walked for prevention, a cure or in memory of a loved one. EmblemHealth engaged with the crowd, handing out a care bag with information on colon cancer, EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care and a pedometer to encourage everyone to walk a few more steps. Earl “the Peal” Monroe kicked off the four-mile run and handed out the awards to the top three winners with EmblemHealth’s Vice President of Medical Management, Karen Smith-Hagman. Colon cancer is the third most common cancer, and to build awareness, Earl “the Pearl” Monroe did a public service announcement asking people to join in the fight against colon cancer which aired on WABC. The day was full of families running and walking together, walking through a giant size colon and learning about prevention. That’s what care feels like.
