A Summary: How To Manage CAD Day-To-Day
Lifestyle changes and medicines can help control CAD. Lifestyle changes include following a healthy diet, being physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, quitting smoking and managing stress.
Work closely with your doctor to control your blood pressure and manage your cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Your doctor will also do periodic blood tests to help determine if your risk factors are controlled or your treatment needs to be adjusted for better results. These will include:
- Lipoprotein panel: A blood test that measures your cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
- Fasting blood glucose test: This test will check your blood sugar level and show whether you’re at risk for, or have, diabetes.
Talk with your doctor about how often you should schedule office visits and/or blood tests. Between these visits, call your doctor if you have any new symptoms or if your symptoms worsen.
