Take Advantage of Our New Acupuncture Benefit Beginning January 1, 2018

We take a holistic approach to health. That’s why, beginning January 1, 2018, we’ll add a new acupuncture benefit to your plan.

Acupuncture can help the body heal naturally. It is the process of inserting needles or applying heat or electrical stimulation to specific parts of the body to help the healing process.

It can be added to treatment you are already following. Or, it can be used in place of treatment for pain related to many types of conditions.

We’ve partnered with American Specialty Health Group, Inc. (ASH Group) to bring this new benefit to you.

To take advantage of your new acupuncture benefit:

  • Call ASH Group Customer Service at 800-678-9133 (TTY: 711). Their hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Call the acupuncturist directly to schedule your appointment.
  • Be sure to bring your EmblemHealth member ID card with you to the appointment.
  • Pay your copay at the end of your session.

Beginning January, 1, 2018, coverage for the following plans will include an acupuncture benefit:

  • EmblemHealth’s individual direct pay on and off the New York State of Health Marketplace
    • EmblemHealth Silver Value
    • EmblemHealth Bronze Value
    • Maximum number of visits per year: 12
    • Copay per visit: $20
  • EmblemHealth’s small business health HMO plans (upon group’s 2017 renewal)
    • EmblemHealth Gold Open Access
    • EmblemHealth Silver Value
    • EmblemHealth Bronze Value
    • Maximum number of visits per year: 12
    • Copay per visit: $20
  • EmblemHealth’s large group employer business plans
    • EmblemHealth HMO Plus
    • EmblemHealth HMO Preferred Plus
    • EmblemHealth EPO Value

If your large group plan is not listed above, check your Certificate of Insurance to see if your plan has added the acupuncture benefit.
