We want to make it as easy as possible for you to get the help you need. Below is a list of resources that you may find helpful while you are pregnant and after your baby is born.

Breastfeeding Information and Assistance

  • La Leche League International is a non-profit, worldwide organization that helps women breastfeed. It is run by mothers who have breastfed successfully. You can find meetings in your own neighborhood by visiting the La Leche League online or by calling 1-800-LALECHE (1-800-525-3243).

  • Women's offers on-line information for breastfeeding moms. If you live in NYC, you can call 311 for additional resources and to speak with a trained peer counselor or go to NYC Health.
  • NYC Health Information on the Web. You can view and print educational materials via the following links:
    • The Breastfeeding Positions instructional flyer demonstrates nursing positions for successful breastfeeding.
      • See a Coaching Card from health care practitioners that will be helpful while you are pregnant and after giving birth. You can also get a wallet-sized palm card that explains your right to breastfeed in public.
          • The Speak Up brochure will give you tips on preparing to breastfeed, and about asking for help in the hospital after you go home.
