Brochure for Teens Now Available!

In the winter 2013 edition of News&Notes, we told you about our Confidentiality Policy Poster and Health Survey for Adolescents available for download at our Web site. We have gotten very positive feedback about both of these resources and are glad so many physicians have found them helpful.

You can now get free copies of a brochure, "Healthy Tips You Need to Know," to distribute to your teen patients. It contains information on topics that may be discussed during visits with teens, including obesity and body image, STDs, smoking, alcohol and drugs, and bullying and mental health. The brochure also directs teens to a page on our Web site where they can get more detailed information on a wide variety of health topics.

Note: Please make a notation in the medical record when you give your adolescent patients this brochure. It meets the New York State Department of Health's requirement for distributing educational materials specifically geared towards risk behaviors and preventive actions.

You can either download a copy of the Healthy Tips brochure from our Web site or request copies by sending an e-mail to kmilito@emblemhealth.com. Be sure to include the address to mail the brochures, the quantity needed and a contact name and phone number.

Adolescent Immunizations

We also ask that you use every visit to your office as an opportunity to vaccinate your patients and provide counseling to hesitant parents. A CDC immunization schedule for pre-teens and adolescents is available for download and review.
