GHI HMO Plans Now Underwritten By HIP
Date Issued: 8/14/2013
On June 26, 2013, the New York State Departments of Health and Financial Services approved the GHI HMO Select, Inc. merger with HIP Health Plan of New York. Letters were mailed to providers affected by this merger. The merger means that HIP is now responsible for GHI HMO’s Certificates of Coverage and provider agreements.
No Immediate Change to Member Plans or Benefits
The merger is seamless for your GHI HMO patients. Until further notice, there will be no change in the way you conduct business with us. Specifically:
- All GHI HMO products and member ID cards maintain the GHI HMO name.
- All processes remain unchanged.
- All phone numbers and mailing addresses remain the same.
Administrative Changes Forthcoming
In the coming months, we will be consolidating administrative policies and procedures so HIP and GHI providers will follow similar processes. The methods for administering referrals, requesting and verifying prior approvals, submitting ER admission notifications, seeing PCP Panels and identifying concurrent review status will be integrated into a unified system. Stay tuned for a mailing that outlines these upcoming changes. Until then, please follow the current administrative policies and processes for GHI HMO.
