Volunteer Opportunities – Rewarding for You and Invaluable For Your Patients

Volunteer OpportunitiesDid you know that EmblemHealth's Integrative Wellness department offers three volunteer programs that allow you to participate in rewarding "peer-to-peer" activities? These programs give you a unique opportunity to put your talent and experience as a physician to work by teaching, supporting and inspiring others. Why not join a close-knit team dedicated to compassionate service and make a real difference?

EmblemHealth Volunteer Programs:

  • Healthy Living with Chronic Conditions
  • Hospital Visitation Program

The Healthy Living with Chronic Conditions programs offer empowering approaches to self-management that you can share with your patients who live with chronic conditions, including diabetes. Volunteers receive thorough training and ongoing support from the program coordinator. Sessions are conducted throughout the five boroughs of New York City and in Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties. Volunteers help people affected by chronic conditions manage their health more confidently — a highly inspiring and rewarding experience. Referrals welcome.

Hospital Visitation Program — After participating in an initial hands-on training and credentialing program, volunteers visit EmblemHealth members at nearby hospitals and receive ongoing support from the program coordinator. Continuing education and development workshops facilitate regular visits to the hospital and are an important part of this program. As volunteers, you offer patients and their families a compassionate “listening ear” by taking the time to consider their concerns and address their questions. You bring your diverse skills, background and experiences to the hospital setting, to offer much-needed support. For volunteers, this is a rich and deeply rewarding experience.
