Advance Notice:

ValueOptions to Provide Behavioral Health Services
for HIP and GHI HMO Members

We are writing to give you a heads-up about the upcoming change of vendor for your
clients' mental health and substance abuse benefits administration. This change will not affect
members' benefits.

In the coming months, ValueOptions®, the nation's largest independent behavioral health and wellness company, will expand its realtionship with EmblemHealth to become the benefit administrator for Emblem Behavioral Health Services. This transition to ValueOptions will now include members of GHI HMO plans and plans underwritten by HIP Health Plan of New York (HIP) and HIP Insurance Company of New York (HIPIC), including HIP-branded plans and the EmblemHealth-branded CompreHealth EPO/HMO plans.

To give group members advance notice about the change to ValueOptions, we have included an article in the new issue of HEALTH MATTERS, the EmblemHealth member newsletter, which we are mailing this week. We are also sending a letter to your clients notifying them of the upcoming change of vendor. Once the official start-up date has been determined, we will send you and your clients a more detailed notification.

We believe that this change of vendor will enhance the behavioral and mental health services we provide to your clients and their employees.

If you have any questions, please contact your EmblemHealth representative.
