BROOKLYN, NY (August 31, 2011)—Thanks to EmblemHealth, New York Mets catchers Ronny Paulino and Mike Nickeas visited Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, to read to young patients.

Mr. Met looked on as Mr. Paulino, Mr. Nickeas and Denise Shearer, EmblemHealth special events manager, read to patients in the pediatric playroom at Maimonides and gave away teddy bears provided by EmblemHealth.

Mr. Paulino, Mr. Nickeas and Mr. Met also posed for photos with the children and signed autographs. Afterwards, they made bedside visits to children who were not able to come to the playroom. “This is part of EmblemHealth’s ongoing commitment to create fun moments that make special memories for children facing challenges,” said Frank J. Branchini, President and COO of EmblemHealth. “We are delighted to be able to bring Mr. Paulino, Mr. Nickeas and Mr. Met to meet the children at Maimonides Medical Center.
