Information Regarding Potentially Inappropriate Medications

The New York State Patient Safety Enhancement Committee, a state-led voluntary effort by clinicians and health care professionals across the state, has developed an education/management tool for practitioners to reduce inappropriate medication use in older adults. The tool, which is based on the Beer’s Criteria, aims to reveal the side effects of specific medications in the elderly and provide recommendations to avoid use of these drugs.
