Town Hall Series

COVID-19 has highlighted and worsened an existing mental health crisis in New York City. Several studies conducted after the pandemic have shown the impact of this crisis on New Yorkers, particularly in communities with underlying generational diseases.

EmblemHealth, in collaboration with its affiliate companies WellSpark Health and AdvantageCare Physicians as well as other community partners, is looking to develop a discussion forum around pressing health topics that affect multicultural New York residents.

These "townhall"-style panel discussions aim to unmask the impact of generational disease on the community's mental health. Our first panel addressed the alarming numbers of smokers in the Chinese population, the mental health component of smoking, and the impact it is having on overall family health. The panelists also offered community resources and effective strategies for quitting.
