Welcome City of New York Employees and Retirees!

As a City of New York employee, non-Medicare-eligible retiree or Medicare-eligible retiree, the plans listed below are available to you and your family. Sign in to get information related directly to your plan and to get plan-related updates including checking claim status and requesting ID cards.

NYC Medicare Advantage Plus Plan (PPO) for Retirees

The City of New York is automatically enrolling retirees in the new NYC Medicare Advantage Plus plan (PPO) on Jan 1, 2022. You do have the right to opt out and remain on your current EmblemHealth plan. To stay on your current plan, you must opt out of the new plan. Here’s how you can opt out:

 

  • Fill out the Opt-Out Form online at nyc-ma-plus.empireblue.com/optout/.
  • Call our dedicated support team for one-on-one assistance opting out over the phone.
    • VIP Premier (HMO) and Rx Carve Out (HMO) Medicare Members: 888-898-7281 (TTY: 711),
      8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
    • GHI Senior Care (PPO) Members: 800-624-2414 (TTY: 711),
      8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
    • Medicare Advantage Plus Members: 833-325-1190 (TTY: 711),      
      8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Fill out and return the Opt-Out Form you received in the mail to the following address: NYC Medicare Advantage Plus Plan, P.O. Box 173605, Denver, CO 80217.

If you choose to opt out and stay in your VIP® Premier (HMO) Medicare plan, you will continue to have no monthly cost. If you choose to stay in the Senior Care plan, you will be responsible for the health plan premium. The premium is the amount you pay for your health insurance each month.

Teladoc

Teladoc is now available to City of New York GHI CBP, VIP Premier, and VIP Rx Carve Out plan members.

It is an easy, convenient way to access doctors for treatment of non-emergency conditions like a cold, allergies, skin problems, respiratory infections, or bronchitis.

If you need care now, are traveling out of town, or are considering going to the Emergency Room (ER) or Urgent Care for a non-emergency issue, Teladoc doctors may be able help right away.

      - GHI CBP and VIP Premier - All Teladoc visits have a $10 copay.

The City and its unions have partnered with Best Doctors, an expert medical review service, to provide eligible employees and dependents covered under the EmblemHealth GHI CBP plan a free medical review of their cancer diagnosis from world-renowned oncologists. The carefully selected Best Doctors experts will also gain insight from the artificial intelligence tools from IBM Watson Health.

These tools provide comprehensive details on treatment options and can be used to match you to available clinical trials based on your unique case details. When there is no room for error, take advantage of your Best Doctors expert medical review benefit.
