EmblemHealth member and retired New York City police officer Mike Jones is one of 86 million Americans with prediabetes. Diagnosed in 2015, Mike enrolled in the Diabetes Prevention Program at his local EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care. Recognized by the Centers for Disease Control, the program helps participants learn how to lower the risk of developing  type 2 diabetes. Each class is led by a lifestyle coach, who teaches participants how to develop healthy eating and exercise habits, cope with stress, and stay motivated.

Through the program, Mike established a healthier lifestyle and avoided type 2 diabetes. Watch the video to learn more about Mike’s journey.
