Dr. Karen Costley-Hoke, an internist and medical director for EmblemHealth, welcomed guests ahead of a panel discussion on the ways cities can use technology and e-health approaches to advance population health and wellness.
“Ask any physician or health care provider and they will tell you what an important part mental health plays in a patient’s overall health and well-being,” Dr. Costley-Hoke said. “At EmblemHealth, there is a true team commitment to healthier communities. We partner with AdvantageCare Physicians to provide health care in neighborhoods that are in need throughout the city. And through our Neighborhood Care program, we are helping match people with resources to assure they have access to mental health services, social services and medical services. We realize what a critical part mental health is in our mission.”
On behalf of EmblemHealth, Dr. Costley-Hoke expressed her gratitude to First Lady Chirlane McCray and Mayor Bill de Blasio for the invitation to participate in the event, which is an important part of the initiative First Lady McCray has undertaken to drive real change in the mental health arena in New York City.
EmblemHealth looks forward to continuing to work with the ThriveNYC team and community partners to address the mental health needs of all New Yorkers.
