EmblemHealth Honors Queens Nonprofits at Commitment to Care Lecture and Award Series

06/19/2013

NEW YORK, NY (June 20, 2013) — EmblemHealth, the largest New York-based health insurer, honored five Queens nonprofit organizations during its "Commitment to Care Lecture & Award Series" on Wednesday, June 12. It was the third time Emblem has honored New York City nonprofits in the series, and the first time Queens nonprofits have been recognized. The evening reception, lecture and awards ceremony was held at Antun's in Queens Village.

EmblemHealth's Commitment to Care program recognizes nonprofit organizations that positively impact the lives of New Yorkers. The program honors the important work of successful nonprofits, and provides strategic advice through a lecture to ensure the nonprofit organizations continue to grow and serve their communities.

Featured speaker Evan M. Kingsley, President of The Whelan Group, said the key characteristics for a successful nonprofit organization are visionary leadership, the ability to meet real needs, strategic planning and collaboration, effective communications, and fiscal responsibility.

Honorees were recognized by EmblemHealth representatives and presented with an award by Earl "The Pearl" Monroe.

"The nonprofits we honor tonight serve constituencies from various backgrounds and stages of life, but they all share an unrelenting spirit and commitment that allows them to be successful," said David Flemister, Director, Brand Strategy and Community Marketing at EmblemHealth and the event's master of ceremonies. "EmblemHealth honors and draws inspiration from them as we all strive for a stronger New York."
