EmblemHealth Supports More Than 6,200 Students With School Supplies and Wellness Resources

New York, NY (Aug. 28, 2025) – Ahead of the new school year, EmblemHealth brought school supplies, wellness resources, and fun children’s activities to communities across New York City. The company distributed more than 6,200 backpacks and offered free wellness resources at family-friendly back-to-school events.

The events were held at EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care locations in partnership with community-based organizations and elected officials. They combined school supply giveaways with support to help families schedule pediatric appointments, get health insurance plan assistance, and get ready for a healthy, confident return to the classroom.

“As a community-focused health plan, we know that education is a powerful driver of long-term health,” said EmblemHealth’s AVP, Community Affairs, Ann Marie Adamson-Serieux. “Our back-to-school events are an opportunity to connect parents and students with vital preventive care services and are one of the many ways we show up for the communities we serve.”

From Brooklyn to the Bronx and Long Island, EmblemHealth’s Community Affairs team gathered families to enjoy music, games, and giveaways while connecting them with resources that support long-term wellness.

Additionally, EmblemHealth hosted an educational webinar on pediatric health where expert panelists discussed tips to ensure a healthy start to the school year for children of all ages. The webinar was moderated by EmblemHealth’s Community Affairs Leader, Olivia Pryce, who was joined by:

• New York City Council Member Shekar Krishnan.
• Kristin Cardillo, Program Manager, Diabetes, EmblemHealth.
• Dr. Akua Bediako, Pediatrician, AdvantageCare Physicians.
• Maggie Mortali, Chief Executive Officer, National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City.
