Important News About Your Health Care

As of March 29, 2026, all NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) facilities and providers will no longer be part of EmblemHealth’s networks.

We have been working hard to renew our contract with NYP to ensure affordable, high-quality care for EmblemHealth members. NYP's significantly higher rates have driven up costs for taxpayers and threaten access to affordable, quality care that New York’s working families depend on. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reach an agreement, but please be assured that we are working hard to resolve this issue.

Please scroll down to review important information regarding how to navigate care with these provider groups as of March 29, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

EmblemHealth has been working hard to renew our contract with NYP to ensure affordable, high-quality care for our members. But the proposals shared by NYP would require us to pay significantly higher rates than other hospitals, jeopardizing the affordability of coverage for New Yorkers. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reach an agreement. Therefore, beginning March 29, 2026, NYP will no longer be part of EmblemHealth's networks. We know how important this is to you and your family and we are continuing to work tirelessly to resolve this matter.

For emergency situations, you're still able to go to the hospital emergency room, as emergency care is always covered.

We are continuing to advocate for you to get access to what is known as the two-month "cooling off" period so that services would be covered as an in-network benefit. NYP has taken the position that the cooling off period does not apply and it will be out-of-network for NYCE PPO beginning March 29, 2026. Members may be able to continue to get care on and after March 29, 2026, but at out-of-network rates. We will update you if our efforts to have the cooling off period apply are successful.

You can receive care from NYP hospitals for two months, until May 28, 2026, while negotiations continue.

We’ve posted a full list of NYP providers going out-of-network.

Yes, in some cases. Members receiving ongoing treatment are able to continue care with their NYP provider for up to 90 days, beginning March 29, 2026 – until June 26, 2026.

Members who are receiving care for pregnancy as of March 28, 2026, are able to continue care for the rest of the pregnancy. This includes related care after the pregnancy that is part of the delivery. To receive other care from NYP or to find care from other nationally recognized hospital systems, call the number on the back of your member ID card first.
