Provides Health Guidance in One Convenient Location for the Chelsea Community

NEW YORK, NY (May 29, 2014) — EmblemHealth, the New York-based health insurer and wellness company, has partnered with Hudson Guild to open its fourth EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care, an inviting place where the community meets face-to-face with EmblemHealth professionals to ask questions, get reliable information and have problems solved. EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care at Hudson Guild is the newest of the Neighborhood Care sites located in Harlem, Chinatown and Cambria Heights, Queens.

“Hudson Guild is pleased to partner with EmblemHealth on this community health initiative. We believe the physical activities, education and one-on-one counseling, offered right here in our community center, will provide better access to information and better outcomes for our participants,” said Paul Balser, Chairman of Hudson Guild and board member of United Neighborhood Houses.

“As a United Neighborhood Houses organization, Hudson Guild has a well-established presence in the Chelsea community and EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care has the resources and expertise to remove heath care barriers facing local residents,” said Arthur Byrd, Chief Financial Officer of EmblemHealth and board member of United Neighborhood House. “The staffs of both organizations are deeply committed to the communities they serve. Together, we share a common goal to improve the health and wellness of New Yorkers.”

The goal of EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care is to offer support and personal attention to help EmblemHealth members and non-members navigate the health care system and improve health outcomes.

EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care is not a clinic or medical center, nor does it provide medical services. It is open to anyone in the community and serves as an inviting place where people can meet face-to-face with EmblemHealth professionals who can answer questions, give reliable information and provide personalized solutions to potential barriers to health care. In addition, EmblemHealth members can discuss specific health care needs to make the most of their insurance benefits and the health care system.

The EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care team, comprised of health care solutions specialists, community liaisons and a pharmacist, will:

  • Integrate with Hudson Guild’s scope of services to connect members and non-members to information
  • Help members solve claims or billing issues
  • Explain medical instructions and proper use of medication
  • Explain enrollment options in EmblemHealth plans
  • Leverage any and all community resources to provide support and services for our guests

Ken Jockers, Executive Director of Hudson Guild said “Our mission is to create and sustain a strong, effective community and a strong, effective community is a healthy community. This partnership with EmblemHealth helps us provide access and expand the resources to our participants that are vital to sustaining health and wellness. We are very happy about this opportunity to partner with EmblemHealth on this great initiative.”

EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care at Hudson Guild is located within Hudson Guild Headquarters at 441 West 26th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues in Chelsea, and is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm.
